Regional Capitals Australia Travels to Canberra

This week, a delegation of Regional Capitals Australia Board Members convened in Canberra to meet with federal ministers and members of parliament and discuss the policy positions held by Regional Capitals Australia (RCA).

The delegation met with the following ministers, members of parliament and stakeholders:

  • Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, the Hon Michael McCormack MP
  • Minister for Education, the Hon Dan Tehan MP
  • Minister for Population, Cities and Urban Infrastructure, the Hon Alan Tudge MP
  • Minister for Regional Services, Decentralisation and Local Government, the Hon Mark Coulton MP
  • Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories, the Hon Nola Marino MP
  • Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster MP
  • Member for Corangamite Libby Coker MP
  • Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan MP
  • Senior Representatives from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development.

Key policy positions put forward to ministers and members of parliament included:

  • Regional Deals;
  • The National Population Plan;
  • Airport, road and rail funding; and
  • Seeking support for promoting the benefits of living in a regional city.
